..finns det ju ett talesätt som heter. Jag fick ett brev häromdagen som bekräftar det.
Åkte ju fast för fortkörning i Texas i slutet av februari när vi bevakade primärvalet.
Jag glömde kvar boten i hyrbilen och hade nästan glömt bort det hela tills brevet kom.
Brevet är från ”Justice of the peace” i County of Kimble och det inleds med meningen: ”This is to inform you that Warrant for your arrest will be issued on May 19, 2008.” Vidare har det trevliga formuleringar som till exempel: ”This means at some point in the future when it will probably be very inconvenient for you, you will be arrested and placed in jail”.
Lite längre ner står det: ”you can avoid the embarrassment that I assure you will occur, if you will send either a money order or cashier’s check by return mail”.
Jag är ganska säker på att de flesta betalar. Jag tänker i alla fall göra det.
Känns som att det är värt 195 dollar att slippa sitta i ett Texas-fängelse.
